Uruguay's Edinson Cavani, one of the most sought after players this year's transfer window, will not be of any interest to Manchester City as the EPL giants have refused to meet the 63m euros (£53.6m) buyout clause for the Napoli star, claimed the Serie A club's president Aurelio de Laurentiis.
The 26-year-old was in City's radar and was linked with Chelsea and Real Madrid, but the 64-year-old Laurentiis said that City do not have the money to pay for Cavani. "Manchester City do not have money to pay for Cavani because they say 'we won't pay that.
"The Abu Dhabi [owners] have said they will never spend 63m euros for Cavani. They say, 'We can give other things', but they are not in the interest of our club," he said in a press conference.
Cavani was in terrific form last season scoring 38 goals and playing an important part Napoli's successful run at in the Champions League. He is currently on international duty with Uruguay in the Confederations Cup in Brazil.
