London: Queens Park Rangers are planning an ambitious move for former England captain David Beckham, according to The Sun.
The midfield maestro's contract with current club Los Angeles Galaxy expires at the end of the current season which, if the California-based side reach the MLS play-off Final, would be till November.
Beckham has reportedly been offered a new contract by Galaxy but has stalled in committing to further seasons in the United States, and QPR are seemingly ready to pounce if the player does indeed decide to leave at the conclusion of his current deal.
The west London club have been subject to a takeover in recent weeks by Malaysian businessman Tony Fernandes, and he has been quick to make a statement of intent in the transfer market, securing names such as Joey Barton and Anton Ferdinand.
Both those players are reportedly on big wages at Loftus Road and Fernandes has shown an ability to overcome the potential stumbling block of Beckham's likely demands in that department.
The report also claims that Fernandes believes that shirt sales as well as other merchandising will more than cover the cost of bringing the 36-year-old star to the club.
Beckham has made no secret of his desire to extend his international career with England and has ambitions to play in both Euro 2012 as well as for a potential Great Britain team in the London Olympic Games in the same year.
It has long been mooted that any such return to the international scene for the player would be dependent on Beckham playing in a European league, and QPR appear ready to offer him such a return.
