The UEFA Champions League match between Man U and Lille will be remembered for more reasons than one.

New Delhi: Champions League round of 16 action kicked off with Real Madrid facing Bayern Munich at Madrid in Spain.

The Spanish club opened the scoring in the 10th minute with the man leading the goal charts, Raul, making full use of a pass from Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

But 13 minutes later Bayern Munich came back into the game when Lucio headed in the equaliser.

Madrid took the lead once again in the 28th minute when David Beckham's cross found the head of Raul to make it 2-1 in favour of the Spanish club and they added the third goal in the 34th minute.

Nistelrooy scored the third goal. Munich tried to make a comeback and scored once but when at the final whistle the score was 3-2 in favour of Real Madrid.

But the match that had everyone talking was the one played between Manchester United and Lille in Lens' Stade Felix-Bollaert in France.

The game will be remembered for more reasons than one and Ryan Giggs will certainly be the man behind it.

Both teams had not scored till the 83rd minute. The drama began when Ryan Giggs took a free kick after the referee, Eric Braamhaa, had turned to get back to his position but had not blown the whistle.

Giggs shot ended in the net sparking off celebrations leaving the Lille players stumped.

The angry Lille players were called off the field but Braamhaar did not change his mind.

Minutes later the players come back to the field and the match ended with Manchester United winning 1-0.
