Hockey India is being kept waiting by the Hero MotoCorp as the company still hasn't made up its mind whether or not to renew the title-sponsorship contract with the franchise-based Hockey India League (HIL).
The group's three-year contract with HIL ended after the 2015 season, but there has been no further development as the federation led by President Narinder Batra has floated an offer for a five-year contract.
"We are yet to hear from them, but I am very optimistic that by October end we will hear a positive news from them," said Batra at the HIL launch event here on Tuesday, sitting in front of a backdrop of HIL logos, which had no mention of Hero.
"We have sent in an offer for a five-year contract, but nothing has been formalized," Batra further told reporters at The Lalit hotel in the capital.
Hero is also the title-sponsor of FIH events held in India, but that contract is separate from HIL.
