Selena Gomez May Shift Focus To Acting: ‘I Do Feel Like I Have One More Album In Me’
Having already explored acting, singing and now serving as the CEO of her cosmetics line, Rare Beauty, Gomez expressed a desire for a more focused career path.

In a recent interview on the SmartLess podcast, multi-talented actress and singer Selena Gomez, (31), disclosed her intention to take a step back from music and redirect her energy towards acting. While she expressed the possibility of one more album, Gomez emphasised her growing interest in pursuing a career in acting.

“I do feel like I have one more album in me, but I would probably choose acting,” Gomez stated during the podcast, shedding light on her evolving priorities, according to Variety.

During the podcast featuring Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett, Selena Gomez discussed her quest to discover a specific niche within the entertainment industry to “just settle on.”

Having already explored acting, singing and now serving as the CEO of her cosmetics line, Rare Beauty, Gomez expressed a desire for a more focused career path. While acknowledging the possibility of one more album, she revealed that, in an ideal scenario, she would “probably choose acting” as her next endeavour.

“I wanted to be an actress; I never really intended on being a singer full-time, but apparently that hobby turned into something else,” she explained, as per Variety. Gomez further highlighted her storytelling skills, expressing her love for creating songs despite not considering herself the best singer.

The singer-turned-actress reflected on the origins of her music career, recalling the time when she found joy in creating music while simultaneously starring in the Disney Channel series Wizards of Waverly Place.

“I started having a lot of fun with music, and then touring was really fun,” she shared with podcast hosts.

Gomez also opened up about the mental health struggles she faced due to overworking, revealing that she had to seek help. “I went to a mental institute and cancelled one of my tours,” she disclosed, highlighting the toll excessive work took on her well-being. Despite her love for working, Gomez acknowledged the importance of finding balance and taking care of her mental health.

The former Disney star discussed her introduction to music during her breakout role in Wizards of Waverly Place. She shed light on the expectations placed on her in the industry, describing Disney as a machine that encourages a triple threat—singing, acting and dancing.
