Drinking Plain Bone Broth
Use a coffee mug for your broth. The traditional coffee mug provides a reasonable single-serving size. It also makes it easier to integrate bone broth into your daily routine, since most of us have a coffee mug handy at all times. Coffee mugs (typically 8-12 ounces) provide a good gauge for your daily intake if you want to see the benefits of bone broth consumption.
Replace your morning cup of coffee with broth. Drink the bone broth at least once per day in the morning in lieu of your regular cup of coffee (or at least before your second cup). Even though it might seem like sacrilege to omit any cup of coffee, there’s something to be said for the added natural energy you'll get.
Drink all day long for ailments. Ease joint pain and arthritis by drinking bone broth periodically throughout the day. If you have a cold, drink as much bone broth as you can handle to keep you hydrated and flush your system. Add healthy fats to your broth. This makes your broth tastier and more filling. Ghee and coconut oil are common examples. Also consider eggs! In moderation, the healthy fats in eggs outweigh most cholesterol concerns. If you already have high cholesterol, consider other alternatives than eggs.
Make your bone broth spicy! Adding a few dashes of hot sauce to your mug 'o broth is a simple way to go if you're craving spice. If you're on a diet, hot sauce can be a blessing. Most hot sauces are low in sodium and have very few calories, despite adding tons of flavor! As with all foods, read the label. Just because most hot sauces are low-calorie and relatively low in sodium does not mean they all are.
Clear your sinuses by adding household ingredients. Add some turmeric, garlic, ginger, cayenne and lemon juice into your broth for a natural home remedy. All together, these ingredients also bring a tasty Asian flare to your bone broth.
Drink bone broth in a smoothie. Buy bone broth powder from a supplement store, or simply freeze bone broth liquid in ice cube trays. Blend the powder (or ice cubes) into your favorite smoothie recipe. This is an easy way to supplement the nutrients in your smoothie and give it an added protein boost.
