Oops! Left the rice on a little long and burned it?! Rather than tossing it out, why not try salvaging it with this neat trick that takes away the burned taste and lets you eat the remaining rice that didn't actually burn onto the pan? There is certainly nothing to lose and everything to gain in giving this easy fix a try!
Remove the rice from the heat source if you haven't already done so.
Place a slice of white bread on top of the cooked rice.
Put the lid of the pan back on. Leave to sit for five to ten minutes.
Remove the lid. The combination of the warmth of the cooked rice and the white bread should have worked its magic to restore the taste of the rice to normal. Taste test it to be sure.
Remove the slice of bread and add to the compost. It will absorbed much of the burnt flavour.
Carefully pour or spoon out the rice into a strainer or colander from the saucepan. Take great care not to introduce any of the burned the grains from the base of the pan. Any grains that appear borderline should be rejected.
Serve as intended.
