Playing for the First Time
Enter the game. When you first enter the game, you will have 100 bucks in-game, and you have to choose whether you want to be a baby or a parent. You may want to be a baby. This is because you want to earn money as soon as possible, and since you don't have a pet to take care of, being a baby allows you to take care of yourself and complete the tasks for earning money. These tasks may be eating, showering, going to school, etc.
Change your clothes. After choosing the age you want to play, the game will automatically put you in a tutorial. You can't stop the tutorial. This tutorial will help you in the future. It will first tell you to dress your avatar up. Choose between the guys or girls section. Once you choose, you will be allowed to design your avatar. A lot of people use the "general" tab when choosing. To find this tag, go to the tabs on the left and click on one of them. Then on the right, you will see other tabs such as formal and general. Click on general if you want to use it. Don't spend all your money buying food as you won't have enough to get more pets, pet wear, toys, and other items. But, don't worry too much because almost all the items are free!
Learn how to move the furniture around. Now that you're done with your avatar, the tutorial will explain that you are in your house, and you can edit it. Try moving one of the items in your house. You will most likely see an orange sofa first, so try moving that to the opposite side of the room. Then you can try to rotate it and color it. You may want to sell it if you don't want a sofa in your house, but if you do want it, don't sell it as you won't earn money from selling that item and you'll have to spend money buying another sofa. If you want, you can add a few pieces of furniture to your house. If you want to remove a newly bought piece of furniture, you can delete it, and you will sell it for its full price. However, the longer you keep it there, the less your refund will be. A nicely decorated house will give people the impression that you're not really a new player, but it's unlikely someone will sneak into your house as not many people decorate that house. Again, don't spend all your money on the house as you can buy it for other stuff and buy a bigger home soon that you want to decorate.
Adopt a pet. The tutorial will now tell you that you are ready to adopt a pet. It will have arrows showing you the way to the nursery. For a shortcut, click on your backpack icon, click the pets tab, and press the plus sign once you're on the pets tab. It will ask if you want to teleport to the nursery. Of course, click "teleport," and you will get to the nursery quicker instead of having to walk too much. However, walking will allow you to survey the place more and get a feel of it, so it's up to you. When you're at the nursery, go to the left, and you will see a place full of eggs. The egg nearest to you will be the starter egg, with a graduation hat on top of it. Sir Woofington, the dog next to the egg, will talk to you about the egg. Read what he has to say, and once he has finished talking, the egg will go to you. The first task of your starter egg will always be to feed them. When they say they are hungry, tap on them, and click the "feed" button. It will bring you to the food section of your backpack, and you can feed them the sandwich that will be there every time you join a new server.
Finish the tutorial. Now, you get to go around as you please. However, keep track of the needs of your egg. After some needs have been completed, your egg will hatch into either a dog or a cat. You can click on the pet and dress it up and name it if you want. Your pet will be a common pet. Don't trade it for something like a toy, as it is not worth it. As this is your first pet, you don't want to lose it, because if you choose the parent role and you don't have a pet, you won't have anything else to take care of and earn money with which will make it hard for you to buy another egg and get another pet. Trade your dog/cat for another common pet. If someone is willing to give you a pet of a higher rank, point out that the trade is unfair for them. If they say they don't mind, then accepting the trade is a good call.
Playing as a Beginner
Consider collecting more. Playing the game before, you most likely have the starter egg in your bag, or it may have hatched already. Check how much money you have. If you have over 350 bucks, you may want to buy the cracked egg. However, saving up is good if you want to get a rank with a better chance of getting a good pet or if you want to get the eggs in the gumball machine (the eggs in the gumball machine are limited, they will disappear from the game and a new egg will take over). Try collecting at least 3 pets, so you have different options when you trade with someone.
Buy a new house. If you buy a bigger house, you might want to sell your older house (though it is not necessary). The Pizza Place house is the cheapest house you can host a party in. Buying a bigger house gives people the impression that you are not new and pretty rich. Decorate your house, it makes it nicer, and when people go to your house for a party or sneak in, they won't find your house too boring. With a bigger house, more people may try to sneak in. It's your choice if you want to lock it or not. Some people may get a bit annoyed when you lock them out. Don't be rude to them if you see them sneak in, as they might feel upset, especially if they were going to tell you that you had a beautiful house. If your house can change colors, you may want to do so. Go to the mailbox next to your house and click on the button. It will say, "change house" (you will also see a tab where you can host parties, etc.). Tap on that, and you will see one of your houses. You can change the color and even the name from there. Put food and drinks in your home so you can get free food and drinks when you or your pet is hungry. Also, make sure to keep your shower and a bed where babies and pets can shower/sleep. Choose a crib or a pet bed, but cribs are cheaper. If you want, add a piano so you can play the piano when you need to go to the playground.
Build a bigger collection in your inventory. Collect eggs, toys (which you can get from the nursery, toy shop, and gifts), strollers, pet wear, etc. If you have Robux, you may want to buy ride and fly pet potions, as rideable and flyable pets are many people's dream pets. You might also want to buy one of the houses that costs Robux or pets that cost Robux. If you get a rideable and flyable potion, put it on one of your best pets to make its worth even higher. If you want to trade something that costs Robux or a rideable and/or flyable pet, you may want to trade it for another Robux item to keep it fair, as Robux is bought using real money.
Playing as an Experienced Player
Build onto your inventory. If you don't have such a big collection yet, build onto it. Collecting the eggs in a gumball machine is a good thing as those eggs are limited, and when they disappear, they will be worth quite a lot. Collect more toys, buy gifts, get vehicles, etc. If you do have a big collection, try to buy what you don't have yet. Once you have bought everything Adopt Me has to offer, you may want to duplicate some items. Having more than one of each item will let you trade those items and still keep that same item since you have a duplicate or more. Collecting more than one of the same pets will allow you to make neons and even mega neons, which is a good thing to do.
Design your house to be functional. Make your house a place where most necessities and tasks can be accomplished. Having food, drinks, a shower, a bed and a piano at your house should be good enough. If you sometimes have friends over or if you host parties. Using more expensive things will make people think that you are pretty rich. Try to use building hacks as people will see you as a creative and pro builder.
Show others your knowledge on Adopt Me. If you know a lot about it, help the new players if they don't know how to play and be nice to others. Show some cool hacks people can do, such as finding a secret room or going to one of those deserted islands you can fly to with your pet if you glitch out of a building. This also may increase your friends' list on Roblox (if you are allowed to get online friends).
