How to Rename AirPods or AirPods Pro + Troubleshooting Tips
Want to change the name of your AirPods? If you received them secondhand, or if you don't like the default name, you can easily change it. You'll just need to connect the AirPods to your Apple device to get started. Here's how to rename your AirPods and what to do if you can't change it with tips from Apple Support Specialist Josef Storzi.
Quick Steps

Renaming Your AirPods

Connect your AirPods to your device. This can be your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

On your device, open the Settings app. This is the grey cog icon. If you're using a Mac, click the Apple menu and select System Settings.

Tap your AirPods. This will be near the top of your screen. If you don't see your AirPods, tap Bluetooth. On Mac, you'll find this in the left sidebar. You may need to scroll down to find it.

Tap More Info (i). This will be next to the AirPods name.

Tap the current name. You'll find this at the top.

Enter a new name and tap Done. The new name will be saved.

Troubleshooting

Let your AirPods charge. If you're unable to change the name, or if you can't get your AirPods to connect, let it charge for an hour first.

Reset your AirPods. When you reset your AirPods, you'll need to pair them to your devices again. To reset, open the AirPod case. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case until the light blinks amber, and then white. To set it up again, Storzi advises to "open the airpods case next to your phone. A dialog box will appear on your iPhone prompting you to connect to them. Click connect and that’s all."

What's your reaction?
