- If you have a free account, you can simply log out and uninstall the app from your smartphone and your account will be deactivated.
- Cancel TextNow's subscription in the App Store or Google Play Store before uninstalling the app.
- Use a web browser to request that your account and data be deleted to be 100% sure your personal data is gone.
Canceling an App Store Subscripton
Open Settings iPhone Settings App Icon. Tap the app icon that looks like some gears on a light grey background.
Tap your Apple ID. It's your name at the top of the menu.
Tap Subscriptions. This is usually the 4th option on the menu under "Payment & Shipping."
Tap the TextNow subscription. A new page will open with the details of the subscription.
Tap Cancel Subscription. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll find this option. If you can't find the subscription that way, try using the App Store on your Mac or iTunes on your PC. Open the App Store/iTunes, click your name, click Account Settings > Subscriptions > Manage > Edit (next to TextNow) > Cancel. You'll have access to your subscription features until the plan expires. If you can't find the subscription this way, try canceling from the TextNow app. Open the app and go to My Account > Cancel Subscription.
Canceling a Google Play Store Subscription
Open the Google Play Store Android Google Play. This app looks like a sideways blue, green, yellow, and red triangle.
Tap your profile picture. It's in the top right corner of your screen.
Tap Payments & Subscriptions. This is in the middle of the menu next to an icon that looks like the back of a credit card.
Tap Subscriptions. It's the second item in the menu next to an icon of two curved arrows forming a circle.
Tap the TextNow subscription. You'll see more details about the service.
Tap Cancel. You'll have access to those subscription features until the plan expires. If you can't find the subscription this way, try canceling from the TextNow app. Open the app and go to My Account > Cancel Subscription.
Deleting Your Account Online
Go to the Data Deletion request page and sign in. Go to https://www.textnow.com/account/new#requestDataDeletionDisclosure. You can use any web browser to get to this page. Log in with the username and password associated with your account. Depending on how you created your account, you can log in with your TextNow username and password or use another login, like Facebook, Google, or Apple ID.
Click "What privacy right…" and select Request Account and Data Deletion. You'll see this drop-down menu under the "Create a new request" header.
Ensure that the email displayed is the account you want to delete. If the wrong email is displayed, log out and log in with your other account.
Click Delete My Account. Once you click this, you'll be redirected to the login page and will no longer be able to access your original account. This action permanently deletes all your data, so you can never log into it again.
