The State Cabinet which met here on Friday has decided to bring another 118 services of 14 more departments under the Sakala scheme, said Law and Parliamentary Minister S Suresh Kumar.
Sakala scheme under Karnataka Guarantee of Services to Citizens Act was recently launched to deliver government services to citizens within a stipulated time.
Speaking to reporters about the Cabinet meet that was chaired by Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, he said that the total number of services at present under Sakala scheme, include, 27 from Urban, BBMP (16), Transport (9), PWD and Port (2), Power (10), Animal Husbandry (3), Industries and Commerce (7), Housing (6) and Forest and Environment (5).The Cabinet has also decided to receive Sakaala applications through online services to ensure transparency, he added said.
He said that the new services added to the existing 151 services will be formally launched on a pilot basis on October 1 in four taluks namely Aurad (Bidar), Puttur (Dakshina Kannada), Dharwad (Dharwad) and Chitradurga (Chitradurga). The same would be extended to all taluks in the district before March 31, 2013.
`45 cr to Naxal Areas
The Cabinet also approved to release a special development fund of `5 crore each to nine Naxal infested taluks in four districts. For this, `22.5 crore has been already released.
“The special fund would be utilised as per the action plan endorsed by concerned district Deputy Commissioners and will be monitored by Chief Secretary, he said. “Home Secretary will be the nodal officer for implementing the works,” he said.
The taluks which are severely affected by the Naxal activities are Tirthahalli, Hosanagara (Shimoga), Pavagada (Tumkur), Sringeri, Mudigere, Koppa (Chikmagalur), Kundapur, Karkala (Udupi) and Belthangady (Dakshina Kannada), he added. He also informed that the state Cabinet has authorised CM Jagadish Shettar to recommend names to the Union Government to consider for conferring Padma awards to the dignitaries from the state who have contributed in the fields of education, medicine, sports, social services and literature.
Suresh Kumar said that Water Resources Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who had attended Cauvery River Authority meeting briefed on state government’s stand to release water to TN.
