BANGALORE: Two persons including a law student committed suicide in separate incidents in the city. A law student ended his life by setting himself on fire at Central Lodge on Infantry Road on Friday morning. The deceased Sunil Gangadhar Kottikar, 24, was a LLB student in Nanden city in Pune.According to the police, Kottikar checked into the room on Thursday night and had not come out after checking-in. On Friday morning, the hotel staff noticed smoke from his room and broke open the door to find Kottikar on fire.Though they shifted him to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to wounds. “A suicide note states that his sister-in-law was the reason for his death. His brother has given a statement that Kottikar was not good at studies and he had asked him to concentrate on studies. As he did not change, he had stopped giving money to Kottikar. The latter mistook that his sister-in-law had stopped his brother from giving money and ended life,” the police added.Commercial Street police have registered a case in this connection and are investigating.In another case reported in Mariyappanapalya in Rajajinagar police station limits in the wee hours of Friday, Saraswathi, 23, ended her life by setting herself ablaze after a tiff with husband. The police arrested her husband, Shivashankar, 28, in connection with the incident.According to the police, Shivashankar allegedly had extra-marital affair and the couple used to fight over the issue. Even in the wee hours of Friday, the duo picked up a quarrel and Saraswathi, dejected over her husband’s attitude poured kerosene and set herself ablaze.However, the parents of the deceased filed a complaint alleging Shivashankar of harassing his wife for dowry based on which he has been arrested.
