Hyderabad: Two minors, including a girl, were rescued from the quarters of a senior TRS leader and former MLA on Monday in Hyderabad. Both the minors were forced to work at a canteen running from the premises.
A child rights team in conjunction with the labour department conducted a raid at the MLA quarters in the locality of Hyderguda. The minor girl was rescued was rescued from senior TRS leader and former MLA Harishwar Reddy's home.
A minor boy was also found working in the canteen situated in the premises. No arrests have been made in the case so far.
Achyuta Rao, Member, State Commission for Protection of Child Rights hit out the former legislator. "We got information about minors being used as workers by MLAs. We have filed two cases after coming here. One is a minor girl found in ex TRS MLA house. It is pity that people who have the responsibility to protect children are encouraging child labour", he said.
