CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Saturday announced 20 per cent bonus for the employees of the TN Electricity Board and Transport corporations.In a statement here, the CM said despite the fact that the TNEB was functioning with a huge debt burden, the government has decided to provide sufficient bonus to the employees of the board. For the year 2010-11, 71,012 employees and workers of the TNEB would get 8.33 bonus and 11.67 per cent ex-gratia. Besides, 12,064 contract labourers of the TNEB would get Rs1,500 as ex-gratia. Due to this, TNEB will incur an additional expenditure of `61.46 lakh.Similarly, 1,30,554 workers of the TN State-owned transport corporations would get 8.33 per cent bonus and 11.67 per cent ex-gratia while 14,845 workers would be given 8.33 per cent bonus. Due to this, the transport corporations would incur an additional expenditure of Rs101.50 crore.
