3 culverts washed away in Keonjhar

KEONJHAR: Normal life in the district has been hit following heavy rains for the last four days. The worst affected is the Telkoi block where the incessant rain has resulted in flood in the Samakoi river.Three culverts on Telkoi-Shivanarayanpurgoda road have been washed away. People of three gram panchayats have been cut off from the mainstream. The  people of submerged houses have taken shelter in school buildings. Even the Telkoi-Bhubaneswar and Ghatagaon-Harichandanpur roads remain cut off. On Saturday, the water level of the river was five feet above the normal near Mushala bridge at Harichandanpur and Ghatagaon. Met office sources said in the last 24 hours 54 mm rainfall has been recorded at Harichandanpur and 120 mm at Telkoi.
