BHADRAK: Panic gripped at least eight villages under Basudevpur block in the district after 30 labourers, working in the industrial belts of dengue-hit Angul district, reached home on Tuesday. Sources said the labourers from Kamargaon, Mirzapur, Kiapada, Narendrapur, Brahmangaon, Alabaga, Guagadia and Gobindapur villages were taken to Angul to work in a private steel plant by one Ranjan Nayak. They, however, left the site after Ranjan suffered from prolonged illness. While his blood sample has been sent to Cuttack for test, locals are demanding tests for others who accompanied him. According to villagers, Prashanta Das of Guagadia panchayat recuperated from fever following treatment and a few others of the same panchayat too are suffering from fever.
