As many as 40 people, including school children and teachers, suffered injuries when a private bus overturned near Chelakkara in Thrissur on Wednesday.
The injured were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals at Chelakkara, and are out of danger according to the doctors. The bus was on its way to Mayannur from Kunnamkulam.
According to Chelakkara police, the accident occurred near Kayampoovathu around 8.45 am when the driver of the bus lost control over the speeding vehicle while giving way to a car.
The police attributed the accident to speeding and a case has been registered against the driver for rash driving.
Since it was early in the day, most of the passengers were workers and students. Some of the injured include Kamalakshi, 44, Valsala, 46, Devi, 41, Rajalakshmi, 32, Sneha, 6, Sharath, 17, Ratheesh, 20, Kannan, 36, Sree Priya, 20, Shanda, 65, Sasikumar, 40, Premavati, 47, and Haridas, 42.
