BALASORE: Six persons, including five pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh, died and 30 sustained grievous injuries in an accident on NH-5 near Soro over-bridge in Balasore district in the wee hour of Thursday. The deceased include four old women. Police said the mishap occurred when the ill-fated bus, carrying about 60 pilgrims, collided with a speeding truck amid dense fog. The pilgrims from Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh were on their way to Kolkata from Puri. The deceased have been identified as Malati Devi Mishra (60), Kalabati Mishra (70), Malati Prajapati (65), Suraj Kumari Prajapati (45), bus driver Liyaqat Alli (52) of UP and truck driver Goutam Mandal (44) of neighbouring West Bengal. While five died on the spot, one succumbed on the way to Soro hospital.
