Bellam Garelu, a sweet-flavoured Vada, is quite famous in Perumallapuram in the East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh. As per ETV, a woman has been selling Bellam Garelu for over 70 years. From tourists to locals, each treats this delicacy as the must-eat item of the area. After gaining widespread fame from the neighbouring areas, a woman from the same family has started selling Bellam Garelu in the Sitarampuram area of West Godavari District. The sale of this sweet-flavoured vada is going well in Sitaramapuram. With the opening of this new branch, the sales of this sweet-flavoured vada are expected to double with the opening of a new shop in Sitaramapauram.
From megastar, Chiranjeevi to political leaders Chandrababu Naidu and late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy have allegedly visited the Bellam Garelu shop at Perumallapuram. The jaggery paste required to make the Bellam Garelu is also available at various shops across the area. However, food enthusiasts always visit the sweet vada shop at Perumallapuram because they believe that their taste is special and hard to get. Apart from providing a mouthwatering dessert, the price associated is also low, adding any factor for the increased sales. In Sitarampuram, the members of the same family are conducting sales for Rs 5 each, a small box for Rs 50 and a large box for Rs 60 and Rs 120 depending upon the pieces.
The parcels of these sweet vadas are also sent to Hyderabad and other nearby cities. Many customers found it difficult to travel to Perumullapuram and so the owners decided to open a branch in the Sitarampuram area. It is close to the town. Many people have reportedly praised the opening of its branch in Sitarampuram area. People are flocking to this newly opened branch to buy and pack these Bellam Garelu.
