BANGALORE: Being the voice of the heart, poetry has always been an earnest attempt to express the inexplicable. Echoing similar sentiments, the poets’ nook, a community for those who believe in the art of words will organise a poetry recital with Monsoon and the Rain as the theme on July 17 at The Bandstand, Cubbon Park. “The Poets’ Nook is a platform for all poetry aficionados to come together. It is a place for poets and poetry enthusiasts to read, share and discuss self-written and other poetry. It is a very new group, nevertheless, the response has been overwhelming. The meet-ups happen every month and the theme for this month is ‘Monsoons and the Rain’ where we will read poetry inspired by our love for the monsoons. The reason for choosing The Bandstand as a meeting point is mainly practicality. It is a landmark everyone knows, so it is a point where we gather together and then we find a quiet nook where we can start reading,” said Prarthana Banikya, founder of The Poets’ Nook,.A passionate poet herself, Prarthana truly believes that poetry adds life to language. Evoking memories and emotions, the monsoons have always been an innate source of inspiration for poetry. “For me personally, something about the rain makes me feel inspired to write about a lot of things I would otherwise never be able to write about. I could spend hours watching the rain and then a few hours later pen down poems about life, relationships and sometimes even something as random as the postbox outside my house. Monsoons basically evoke all forms of feelings till a point, I can do nothing but write. And I believe, poetry adds music, passion and emotion to it. I think poetry is one of the finer things in life,” she further added.Anyone who has a love for poetry or wishes to explore it, can be a part of The Poets’ Nook. To participate in any of the poetry events, one just needs to send in their participation details including contact and details of poems they would like to read and explore. “There is also a Facebook community page for all our members and to become a part of The Poets’ Nook, one has to join the community or send me an email stating so. I think most poets need different forms of inspiration to be able to pen down words. On Sunday, we will be sharing self-written and other poems related or inspired by our love for the Monsoons,” said Prarthana. For further details call +919686662880 or email [email protected].
