CHENNAI: “Jewellery is a major fascination for women and platinum is something that women always ask their husbands to buy them,” said Supriya, wife of actor Jiiva, after the couple launched the platinum love band collection at Nathella on Wednesday. The launch, held at the Anna Nagar branch, marked the Platinum Day of Love 2012 and the collection comprises a range of platinum rings in various designs. Jiiva and his wife, looking at each other like a newly-wed shy couple, exchanged platinum rings to officially inaugurate the collection. “When I first wanted to buy Supriya a gift, I wanted to buy her platinum jewellery, but I couldn’t afford it back then,” said Jiiva. “After we got married, the first thing that I asked her to buy me was a platinum ring,” he added sheepishly. Prapanna Kumar Nathella, Managing Director, Nathella Jewellers, after establishing that they have been associated with platinum for over 10 years now, said, “There is just something about platinum that makes women choose it. It is as eternal as love.” So, did Supriya fulfill Jiiva’s wish and buy him the piece of platinum that he wanted? “Yes, of course I did,” she said and added, “Platinum doesn’t make you over dressed or under-dressed.”
