BANGALORE: CounterCulture and Kingfisher will present Ministry of Blues on June 25, 9 pm onwards.Ministry of Blues (MOB), plays a genre of music that originated in the early 1900s, but with contemporary flair. The intention of the band is to create a musical experience that blends music with deep emotional roots with the sounds and skills that typify modern rock.Their signature style is playing music in a manner that is enjoyable to both the discerning blues aficionado as well as the lover of today’s rock music.Their first difficult task was coming up with a name that suitably described the blues-rock music played by the band. After experimenting with a series of names the band finally settled on Ministry of Blues coined by Deepak or DK for short, which somehow seemed to sum up the overall feel of the band. MOB performed their first gig Bangalore to all of ten people but then The Police have actually played a gig where only three people showed up. The success of MOB’s performances, marked by raw energy, quickly generated great interest in the band. MOB’s repertoire is a mix of classics like Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, Robben Ford, John Mayall, Joe Cocker, Deep Purple, Gary Moore and Eric Clapton among others. The band is known for their unique rock renditions of these classic tracks, making their music appealing to lovers of rock, rhythm and blues. The band features Philipe Haydon on guitar and vocals, Rauf on keyboards and vocals, Vinoo Matthew on bass and Deepak Kesavan on drums.Their sole intention is to create a musical experience that blends music with deep emotional roots with the sounds and skills that typify modern Rock; play the music in a manner that is enjoyable to both rock and blues music lovers and reintroduce the listener to the sheer excitement of intense and highenergy live music. The MOB line-up includes Philipe (vocals and lead guitars), Vinoo (bass), Rauf (vocals and keyboard) and Deepak (drums). Although Philipe, Deepak and Vinoo have been playing together since 1993, MOB as a concept and a band, was formed in 2005. Sarat Sidhan was the original bass player for MOB.He moved out of Bangalore and MOB for professional reasons a year later. For further information please call +918041400793 / 8041400794 or visit www.counterculture.in
