COIMBATORE: Activists belonging to different organisations, fighting for the cause of Tamils, here today protested the rejection of clemency petitions of three killers of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.Led by K Ramakrishnan,General Secretary of Periyar Dravidar Kazhakam, various organisations appealed to the Tamil Nadu government to pass a resolution in the state assembly to save the lives of Santhan,Murugan and Perarivalan, whose clemency petitions were rejected by President Pratibha Patil.The protesters, drawn from MDMK, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi and some Tamil organisations also raised slogans in support of their demand.Meanwhile, a report from Madurai said about 50 Advocates, members of Tamil Eelam Supporters Federation and some persons belonging to a minority community staged a demonstration in front of the district collectorate demanding that Murugan, Perarivalan,Santhan and Afzal Guru(Parliament attack accused) not be given capital punishment and sought its withdrawal.
