AIADMK demands higher aid

PUDUCHERRY: AIADMK’s Puducherry Unit has requested the nine-member Inter-Ministerial Central team (IMCT) visiting the UT in the aftermath of Thane, to recommend to the Centre to release a minimum of `2500 crore as compensation. In a memorandum submitted, A Anbazhagan, the party also requested the team to ask the Centre to sanction a “calamity relief fund.”   He recommended aid of `25,000 for fully `15,000 for  partially damaged houses, besides `50,000 per acre of sugarcane among others. He also recommended a compensation of `8 lakh per boat for fishermen who lost large boats, `3.5 lakh per boat for FRB boats, `30,000 for every catamaran and fishing net damaged or lost and `20,000 for every Milch animal.
