Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday put under suspension the district excise officer of Raebareli after corruption charges against him were found to be true, official sources said on Lucknow.
The officer, Nirankar Nath Pandey has been placed under suspension by the chief minister after corruption charges against him were prima facie found to be true, they said.
On April 25, Abhishek Jaiswal had complained that Pandey had demanded bribe for getting government work done.
He had also produced a CD of conversation between them before Deputy Excise Commissioner, who found the allegation prima facie true.
Pandey has been suspended with immediate effect, and Joint Excise Commissioner of Meerut zone has been asked to probe the matter and submit report within 30 days, sources said.
