NEW DELHI: It seems that the CPM cadre in V S Achuthanandan’s home turf, Alappuzha, is the most concerned about the ‘sufferings’ of their fellow brethren in West Bengal.  The Alappuzha district committee has the highest share- Rs 41,59,597 lakh - of the total Rs 3,53,64,891 crore collected by the CPM state unit for the Bengal Relief fund meant to help the CPM cadre in West Bengal, who are apparently reeling under the onslaught of the Trinamool Congress workers. CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan here on Thursday handed over a cheque worth Rs 3,53,64,891 crore to Bengal party secretary  Biman Bose in the presence of CPM general secretary Prakash Karat and CPI general secretary A B Bardhan.Alappuzha’s contribution is closely followed by Kollam (Rs 40,00,000), Thiruvananthapuram  (Rs 39,00,000.00) and Kannur (Rs 38,15,740).  The lowest collections are from Wayanad (Rs 4,00,000), Kasargod (Rs 9,00,000), Kottayam (Rs 10,25,000) and Malappuram (Rs 10,00,000). The Kerala CPM had earlier contributed Rs 25 lakh to the West Bengal Fund.According to the CPM, around 30 party workers have died and over hundreds injured in the attacks by TC workers. The comrades from both the states jointly held a rally in the capital protesting against the TMC ‘onslaught’. Later, a team led by Biman Basu met the Prime Minister and handed over a memorandum, which complained that all the democratic institutions in Bengal have been made defunct either by attacks, intimidations or Government fiats.
