The city is all set to welcome the representatives from all over the globe for the Emerging Kerala event likely to be held here on September 12.
The co-ordination committee with Mayor Tony Chammany at its helm, will start the preparatory work of the mega-investor’s meet by September 3.
Apart from the Mayor, the special committee consists of District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth, City Police Commissioner M R Ajith Kumar and Rural Police chief K P Philip.
The chairmen and presidents of the neighbouring local bodies from Angamaly to Kumbalam are also the members.
“We will form the subcommittees for the smooth conduct of the programme. The special committee will focus on three key elements like cleanliness of the city, traffic regulation and security,” said Mayor Tony Chammany.
He said the civic body was planning to launch an intensive cleanliness drive in the city ahead of the Emerging Kerala event. The event is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on September 12.
The three-day event will offer projects and investment ideas for potential investors in 26 key sectors.
“We expect that over 1,500 delegates from more than 35 countries will attend the function. We will take steps to provide them with a clean and tidy atmosphere in the city,” said the Mayor. Along with the foreign delegates, 12 Union Ministers, Canadian Minister and the ambassadors of different countries are also expected to visit the country.
“The police will take charge of the traffic regulations without causing difficulties for the public. Likewise, the security will also beefed up in connection with the event,” he said.
During the Emerging Kerala, the prime focus will be on the core sectors like IT and enabled services, infrastructure development, Tourism, Marine and Agro processing, Education, Port logistics, health and Science and Technology.
