New Delhi: A day ahead of the Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, the AIADMK announced that party chief Jayalalithaa would be campaigning for Samajwadi Party nominees in the state.
Jayalalithaa would be addressing rallies at Bareilly on April 8 and Allahabad on April 12, in support of the Samajwadi party candidates.
She has decided to campaign for that party, responding to an invitation extended by the Samajwadi Party President and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mulayam Singh Yadav, an AIADMK press release said.
The polling for the first phase will begin on April 7 and the subsequent six phases will end by May 7.
In all likelihood, the polls will witness a four-cornered contest, with the incumbent Samajwadi Party making a valiant effort to retain power and the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party trying to emerge as the single largest party.
The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress will be the two other main contenders in the race.
