KOCHI: Parivarthana 2011, a social initiative of the SCMS group of educational institutions, Kochi, aimed to empower students to face social challenges and problems of modern society, was inaugurated by Sreelekha IPS, IG, Ernakulam Range on the campus.It is scheduled till November 1 during which students of SCMS institutions will be interacting with students of about 100 high schools and around 10 colleges in Ernakulam district. Various entertaining as well as interactive sessions will be conducted to make students aware of socially relevant themes and bring about a positive change in them. The topics include prevention of drug abuse by adolescents, promotion of personal hygiene, civic behaviour in children and safer social networking on internet. The programme will have an assortment of activities like games, role play, mime, interactive sessions, all designed to entertain, engage and educate the students, igniting their minds to take a firm resolve against drugs and to commit themselves to good and safe living. Experts from the field of education, cyberspace, doctors and psychiatrists will equip the SCMS students to conduct the programme. They will also review and approve the content of the programme regarding the accuracy of information, its clarity and the suitability of the way in which the idea is presented. The 60-minute programme is informal sans experts, teachers or lectures. The language for communication would be a mixture of English and Malayalam. Use of audio video aids would be kept minimum.To ensure efficiency in transportation and logistics, the schools proposed to be covered are grouped into 12 groups based on their geographic location.
