THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The series of City Express reports on an illegal arch erected in front of the Trivandrum Club at Vazhuthacaud and the crooked way by which the people behind the arch obtained a permission, have yielded results. Soon after the first report came on Friday, the authorities admitted their mistake and removed the arch. However, City Express did not stop there and went on to foil the crooked game played by the people behind the arch in misleading the Collector to obtain the permission. The arch that was erected by the organisers of a trade fair that was being held at Trivandrum Club had come up there violating rules. The City Police too could not initiate action, despite the proximity of the arch to the State Police Headquarters, due to the Collector’s permission the organisers had.District Collector P M Francis, who took charge recently, confessed that his office was unaware of the ban. Besides, the PWD authorities had also given clearance for their application, because of which the Collector went ahead and gave his permission.
