ANGUL: Angul town has been decked up to welcome BJP leader L K Advani on Monday. He will address a public meeting here as a part of his nationwide Jan Chetna Yatra to root out corruption.Advani visited Angul in 1995 for an election rally and then in 2004 as a part of his ‘India Shining’ campaign, but he had addressed a gathering at Talcher.Earlier, a preparatory meeting was held here which was attended by MP Rudra Narayan Pany, BJP State president Jual Oram, district president Ashok Mohanty, general secretary Kalandi Samal and Jajati Pattanaik.Security provisions have also been beefed up ahead of Advani’s visit. Police have tightened security from the entry point to the district at Bamur to Dhenkanal border. “We have arranged for five times more than the required Z Plus security which he is entitled to. Ten platoons of armed police will be deployed, headed by four DSPs and 10 inspectors and others during the yatra in the district. Besides, plain-clothes officials will be deployed,” said Angul SP Satyabrata Bhoi.Advani’s visit comes at a time when Angul and its neighbouring Dhenkanal are undergoing massive industrialisation causing displacement, pollution and destruction of forest cover on a large-scale.
