BANGALORE: While anticorruption crusader Anna Hazare has caught the imagination of the nation, his image has made its way into cultural programmes in schools.In a bid to instill values of honesty in their children, parents are choosing to dress their children as Anna Hazare.Anna’s white attire with his Gandhian cap has become yet another symbol of people’s hope for a corruption-free India in the 21st century.Divya Vivek, a home maker in Malleswaram said children used to dress like Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru, Indira Gandhi and many other leaders, who fought for the nation to get independence, when she was in school.“Two weeks ago, when there was a fancy dress competition at my son Vihan’s school, I chose to dress him as Anna Hazare, which was applauded in his school,” she explained.Ashwini Anish, a script writer, said that she had dressed her daughter in white in a recent school function.“White is just a symbolic representation of clean India.With white dress, I will get a feeling of corruption-free India and I see them through my daughter Vibha,” she added.Swaroopa Venkatesh, who works in a private firm, said that she had bought a white dhoti kurta for the Ganesha festival.“I am just searching for a white topi, which fits my fiveyear- old son Dhanvi.Outfit of Anna Hazare is not just ethnic, but also reminds me of a person who is fighting for all of us.What better outfit can I purchase for my son during this festival?” she explained.
