Are you lost? Just follow the hoarding

BANGALORE: Next time when you lose your way, just look at the hoardings on road side. Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is planning this initiative where hoardings will also act as signboards.This is a proposal by the traffic engineering cell of the BBMP. According to sources, the cell will put up signboards with arrows for direction and road safety signage across the city. “The city with 252 kilometers of roads needs more such boards. The BBMP does not have sufficient funds to put up more boards. That is the reason we are seeking help from private parties,” sources said.They are appealing to the people who want to place advertisements through small hoardings especially placed on dividers, to come forward. “We can also put up directions on these boards,” sources said.According to officials, the BBMP will give 75 per cent of the space to advertisements and the remaining space will be utilised for giving directions.“Depending on the requirement of that particular road, private companies have to display the message,” officials told City Express.Official also said that it should be bi-lingual — in Kannada as well as in English. “We are discussing this initiative and very soon it will be implemented,” officials added.
