GURUVAYUR: Thousands thronged Sree Krishna temple here and offered prayers before Sree Guruvayurappan on Ashtamirohini day on Sunday. Special offering of the day - unniyappam - for nearly three lakh, were used for the special nivedyam during the night pooja and later they were distributed to the devotees.Special kazhcha sivelis were performed in the morning and evening. The vilakku ezhunnellippu was held at night.Nearly 30,000 devotees enjoyed the feast (pirannal sadya) at the temple oottupura and the temporary pandal at the west nada.Additional director-general of police Mahesh Kumar Singla, devaswom chairman T V Chandramohan, members Thushar Vellappally and N Raju, and administrator K M Raghuraman offered prayers at the temple.Police force led by Assistant Commissioner of police R K Jayaraj, CI C K Sunil Kumar and SI Sreejith managed the heavy rush of devotees and the traffic.Devaswom employees led by temple deputy administrator P V Somasundaram managed the devotees inside the temple.The colourful uriyadi procession organised by Guruvayur Nair Samajam was held in the morning. The procession accompanied by caparisoned tuskers, nagaswaram, panchavadyam and jeevata ezhunnellippu began from Mammiyoor Mahadeva temple and concluded at the Sree Parthasarathi temple.Children in the attires of Lord Krishna and friends performed the uriyadi ritual. A colourful procession, began from the Perumthatta Siva temple, concluded at the East nada of the temple.
