The political slugfest over the National Register of Citizens (NRC) continues with Tripura governor Tathagata Ray saying that Muslims entering India are not refugees because they faced no persecution in their home countries. BJP chief Amit Shah and Home Minister Rajnath Singh will both address the issue during their speeches in Parliament on Wednesday. The Congress continues to walk a tightrope over the contentious issue. Congress MP from Assam Ripun Bora said, “Mamata Banerjee being the Chief Minister should not provoke for a civil war, we condemn this statement. It will have no impact on Assam as it is absolutely peaceful there.”
