KOCHI: “We were standing, looking out of the window and chatting away, as another train passed by. That was when a man suddenly jumped into our train which had halted at the Kurupanthara station, and we were mortified. Each of us screamed. Jisha couldn’t take the shock and fainted,” said Soyamol M M, one of the students who was eye-witness to Thursday’s sordid turn of events.The incident, wherein a man jumped into the ladies’ compartment of the train and tried to snatch the students’ belongings, occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning and has left the students visibly shaken. “We were surprised at the sudden turn of events. All of us were thrown off balance. I caught hold of the wash basin near the door. Luckily, we were all able to grip on to something or the other, else we would have been thrown out of the train,” Soyamol adds.The 21-year-old student from Vaikom, who was travelling to Ettumanoor for attending classes had boarded the train from Apanchara, Vaikom. “We were headed to Ettumanoor. It is sheer good luck that none of us was hurt.” The four students were immediately rushed to the Holy Ghost Mission Hospital, Vaikom. They were released after examination and giving their statement to the police. Jisha, who was unconscious at the time, is still under examination.
