Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday said construction of a building to house the state Assembly would begin only after resolving the issues of people in the vicinity. Laying the foundation stone for the structure at the "Core Capital Area" in Ranchi after 13 years since the state's creation, Soren said the government was serious in addressing problems of the locals before beginning construction work, an official release quoting the Chief Minister said.
Stating that the building to house the Assembly would begin only after resolving their issues, Soren sought cooperation from everyone for construction of the building. Soren's assurance came in the wake of a sit-in yesterday by local people and their representatives reportedly with a charter of demands.
The Principal Secretary (Building Construction Department), Rajbala Verma, said the three-storey building will spread across three lakh square feet. Assembly Speaker Shashank Shekhar Bhokta and several cabinet ministers were present on the occasion.
