BANGALORE: Before the Independence Day parade at Manekshaw Parade Grounds on Monday, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and the city police have come together to make all the ancillary arrangements. “All arrangements for the parade have been made without any shortcomings,” BBMP Commissioner Siddaiah said while addressing the media persons at the Independence Day rehearsal at Manekshaw Parade Grounds on Saturday.He said that the 39 contingents will participate in the parade. They include teams from the police, National Cadet Corps, Sevadals and Home Guards.With over 1,700 children taking part in the celebrations, the BBMP has arranged sufficient food, drinking water and toilets for the participants.In case of any medical emergencies, the Commissioner said that eight mobile hospitals, 12 ambulance vehicles will be stationed near the grounds.He also said that 109 hospitals have been identified to be prepared to handle any sort of medical emergency.The Fire Department will also provide three vehicles specifically for the event.Speaking about the security arrangements made for the event, City Police Commissioner Jyothiprakash Mirji said that around 1,000 police personnel have been deployed along with officers in plain clothes.The police department has also arranged for videography and surveillance cameras, he added.The BBMP has also set up a Disaster Management Cell to tackle any sort of emergency at the event.Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda will inaugurate the Independence Day programme at Manekshaw Parade Grounds and address the parade on Monday after the flag hoisting ceremony at 9 am. This will be followed by a cultural programme.
