What is Lalbagh’s Horticulture Fruit and Flower Show?

The Lalbagh flower show is held twice a year, in summer and winter. It is inspired by the Great Spring Show, an annual show held by the Royal Horticultural Society of England. This show was organised in 1912.

Highlights of the show

According to reports, there will be a strong focus on eco-friendly practices in this show. As per Ramesh DS, the director of the Horticulture department, there will be a complete ban on plastic bags, water bottles, packed food and single-use plastic items in the show. To keep the garden fresh, over 200 volunteers from NGOs Saahas Zero Waste and Beautiful Bharat will manage solid waste throughout the event.

Theme of the show

As per the Local 18 Karnataka, 32 Lakh flowers will be used for the show. Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the Lalbagh Flower Show on the theme of Life & Times of Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s grandson Bhimrao Yashwant Ambedkar will also take part in the inaugural programme. Post the inauguration, the public will be permitted to take part in various competitions. These competitions include Ikebana, vegetable and fruit carving, Pushpa Bharati, and Bonsai, to entertain the visitors.

Entry Fee

Entrances for the flower show are there at all 4 gates of Lalbagh and cost Rs 80 for adults. Rs 30 is the price of tickets for the children. School students can enter the venue for free.
