Tomas Berdych saved a match point in the third-set tiebreaker against Janko Tipsarevic to win 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (6).
London: Tomas Berdych saved a match point in a third-set tiebreaker against Janko Tipsarevic to win 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (6) in his second Group A match at the ATP World Tour Finals on Wednesday.
Berdych wasted a match point in his opening match against Novak Djokovic, but he escaped when Tipsarevic put a difficult volley just wide when leading 6-5 in the tiebreaker.
Tipsarevic, who replaced the injured Andy Murray, slipped on the baseline when facing match point. That allowed Berdych to put away a forehand winner, and the Serb hobbled to the net to shake hands.
Berdych still has a chance to reach the semi-finals. Top-seeded Novak Djokovic will face David Ferrer later on Wednesday, with a win for the Serb putting him through to the semis.
