SABARIMALA: Hindu Aikyavedi general secretary Kummanam Rajasekharan has said there was a pre-planned conspiracy behind raking up the Mullaperiyar issue by vested interests during the Mandalam-Makaravilaku season, which affected the flow of the pilgrims and resulted in a steep fall in revenue to the government and Sabarimala temple. Kummanam Rajasekharan on Sunday said the attack on pilgrim vehicles, spreading false rumours and staging hartals were part of the conspiracy to sabotage the Sabarimala pilgrimage. The government earns about `10,000 crore during annual pilgrimage and the government suffered loss worth crores during the on-going season. Raking up the Mullaperiyar issue could not taken as an isolated incident and the timing and modus operandi of attacking pilgrim vehicles across the state should be taken seriously by the government, he said. Hence, the government should order a probe into the untoward incidents to find out whether there was any conspiracy behind them, he said.
