BANGALORE: The High Court on Monday refused an early hearing of an appeal filed by the state government challenging the order of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), quashing the appointment of Director General & Inspector General of Police (DG & IGP) Shankar M Bidari and directing the state to appoint DGP of Fire and Emergency Services A R Infant as ad-hoc DG & IGP.Advocate General S Vijay Shankar, who appeared before a Division Bench comprising Justice Dilip Bhosale and Justice B S Chandrakala for the state, sought an early hearing of the case, but the Bench stated that the case would be taken as per the list. “No preference would be given to anybody, let it come on regular process,” the Bench said. The CAT Divisional Bench, comprising Judicial Officer Dr Suresh and member Leela Mehandale, had on March 16 passed the order, quashing the appointment of Bidari as DG & IGP. It had stated that the appointment of Bidari was null and void as the state kept the UPSC Empanelment Committee in the dark about allegations against him while he was the chief of the Special Task Force (STF) formed to nab forest brigand Veerappan.
