HOSUR: Buses from Tamil Nadu were held up at the state border in Hosur for more than six hours following clashes in areas bordering the state in Karnataka.Babu Reddy, a leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Karnataka, was shot dead by his rivals on Sunday in Chandapura, a village located on the NH between Hosur and Bangalore. It is said that the murder was over a long term gang rivalry regarding a land dispute in Bangalore. The rivals fired at Reddy after clashing with his group on national highway with lethal weapons.Following the murder, Babu Reddy’s supporters blocked traffic in the national highway and damaged vehicles passing through the road. Agitated supporters burned vehicles and tyres on the road. The protestors also pelted stones at shops near Chandapura village. Following his, traffic from TN to Karnataka through Hosur came to a halt.Passengers travelling in Tamil Nadu buses to Bangalore were stranded at the state border. Later they walked across to Athibele, a village in the Karnataka border and took Karnataka buses to reach Bangalore in alternate routes through Sarjapura village. Even two wheelers and cars from TN were not allowed to enter Karnataka.
