Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa may be in a hurry to become the state BJP president or install his man on the coveted seat but the party high command seems to be in no mood to effect the change before December.
According to a senior party functionary, the party national leadership has reportedly decided to wait till the completion of ongoing membership drive and the party’s organisational elections before installing a new state president in the state.
The BJP has launched the membership drive across the country on September 8 which would go on till September 16. Immediately after this, the organisational elections will be held.
“This apart, the incumbent president K S Eshwarappa’s term will end in December and cutting short his term would be against the principle of the party,” sources added. Meanwhile, Yeddyurappa has convened a meeting of Bangalore MLAs on Tuesday.
Yeddyurappa camp is maintaining that the meeting was organised to discuss infrastructure and civil issues that are haunting the Bangaloreans but his opponents see it as a pressure tactic
