Congress on Wednesday accused BJP of spending big money to come to power at the Centre and termed as "sponsored" the poll surveys which favoured the NDA.
"Surveys favouring the NDA are sponsored by the BJP, while the ground reality is that there is no BJP or Narendra Modi wave in the country," Shobha Ojha, President of All India Mahila Congress (AIMC) and party spokesperson, told reporters at the Indore Press Club on Wednesday.
However, when asked whether she has any evidence to support her allegations, she said, "there is no need for evidence in such matters, as usually evidence is not available in such cases. But we have no doubt that these poll surveys are sponsored."
Replying to a question about Modi's wife, Jashodaben, Shobha said that she should be given a big award, since despite being the wife of Gujarat Chief Minister, she devoted herself to teaching in a primary school, leading a solitary life, without complaining to anyone.
On the other hand, Modi always hid facts about his marriage from the Election Commission and revealed his marital status only recently, she said.
Calling Modi a "fascist", she said "when he has failed to give his wife her rights, how would he ensure the welfare of the women of the country."
She questioned was such a person fit to become India's prime minister?
Congress has given tickets to 55 women candidates which accounts to 13.5 per cent of the total party nominations for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, she said.
Shobha also assured that if the UPA comes back to power, it would ensure passage of the Women's Reservation Bill in parliament.
She alleged that the BJP not only released its manifesto late, but also copied it from the Congress.
