Jodhpur: A court on Thursday granted relief to actor Salman Khan in the black buck poaching case under Section 27 of Indian Arms Act and Section 148 of the Indian Penal Code.
Upper District Magistrate Pankaj Bhandari took the decision after hearing the petitions of Salman and other actors including, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam and Sonali Bendre and six other accused in the case.
The court also granted relief to five other accused under Section 147 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code.
Salman has been found guilty of poaching two black bucks in Kankani village in Luni, Rajasthan on October 1 and 2, 1998.
The case is being heard in the court of Judicial Magistrate Dalpat Singh Rajpurohit.
The court had framed charges against Salman under different sections of the Wildlife Protection Act and Indian Arms Act.
Salman had appealed that since a case under the Arms Act is already registered against him in the court, so the Arms Act charges should be removed from the black buck poaching case. The court admitted his appeal and granted him relief.
