New Delhi: Some relief for the Indian doctor Dr Mohammad Haneef. Prosecution in Australia have decided to review all documents relating to his case.

The Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions on Wednesday made this announcement.

Haneef has been charged with recklessly supporting a terrorist group.

In a statement, the Director of Public Prosecution in Australia said the review is being done in view of the way the case has progressed so far. He however, refused to spell it out.

"Clearly not every matter which is prosecuted by my Office is reviewed by me but there are matters which have developed as this case has progressed which I am examining and a broader review of the available material and the proceedings to date is the best way to examine these matters appropriately," PTI quoted DPP Damian Bugg as saying.

Though Bugs referred to matters, which have developed as the case has progressed, he did not spell out which aspects of the case he is referring to.

The DPP review follows concerns about inconsistencies in the case against Haneef.

The Office of DPP operates independently of Government. The ultimate authority for authorising prosecutions lies with the Attorney General.

However, since that is a political post, and it is desired to have a non-political or a public service post to carry out this function in most circumstances. Hence the prosecutorial powers of the AG are normally delegated to the DPP.

The Gold Coast hospital registrar is alleged to have given a mobile phone SIM card to a cousin and Glasgow bomber Kafeel.

But reports said Haneef's SIM card was not found in the burning jeep that crashed into a terminal at Glasgow Airport.
