CHENNAI: Construction of the multi-storey car parking on Bashyam Road in T Nagar is only at the preliminary stage and not yet finalised, the Chennai Corporation has said in its counter-affidavit filed in the Madras High Court on Friday.The counter was filed in response to a public interest writ petition filed by social worker ‘Traffic’ K R Ramaswamy, challenging the project.The counter said that the project was proposed only in the interest of the public. The Corporation was in the process of appointing a consultant for the preparation of the feasibility report and a detailed project report.Further, the construction would be made only on the vacant land available on Bashyam Road in front of the Panagal Park and not by closing the said road. Hence, the PIL was not maintainable, the counter added.
