CHENNAI: The CavinKare Ability Awards, jointly instituted by the FMCG giant CavinKare and the national cross disability NGO, Ability Foundation, are awards with a difference. Instituted in 2003, the CavinKare Ability Awards honour achievers with disability who have defied conventional stereotypes to realise their dreams. The selection process begins with advertisements calling for nominations. Any Indian national who has disability and has done exceptional work in his/her chosen field is eligible to apply. The nominations are shortlisted and on-site visits made for an in-depth understanding. Based on this, the eminent jury selects the recipients.The award ceremony will take place in February 2012 in Chennai.
