HYDERABAD: The special CBI court on Friday dismissed yet another bail application moved by Gali Janardhana Reddy, the key accused in the Obulapuram mining case.Janardhana Reddy, who is currently lodged in the Chanchalguda Central Prison here, filed the petition seeking a two-day-long escort bail to attend his mother’s death anniversary, which is scheduled to be held at Bellary on December 31 and January 1.In its counter-petition the CBI opposed the escort bail plea on the ground that the accused was highly influential and, if released on bail, might  influence witnesses in the case. The investigation into the case had almost come to an end and he should not be released at this stage, the CBI counsel said.Reddy’s counsel argued that in view of the fact that the investigation was complete and the CBI filed its charge-sheet, the court may kindly consider granting a two-day  bail for the accused to participate in his mother’s death anniversary ceremony and philanthropic activities to be undertaken on the occasion. After hearing the arguments, special CBI court magistrate B Naga Maruthi Sharma dismissed the bail plea of Janardhana Reddy, who was the former tourism minister of Karnataka.Reddy was arrested by the CBI sleuths from his residence in Bellary in September this year.
